Barbara has pastoral charge of the Chislehurst and Mottingham churches and lives at the Manse in Chislehurst.
Before coming to this circuit Barbara was minister of 5 churches clustered around Crediton in the Exeter circuit and while there was ordained in Manchester Cathedral at the Blackpool Conference in 2007.
Previously Barbara was an RE teacher. She then worked for Christian Aid, followed by a period as Chaplain to International Students in the three universities in Glasgow.
Barbara enjoys walking and can be seen cycling around her patch. She also enjoys playing her piano accordion, growing vegetables on the allotment and is a rebel knitter! Barbara has three adult children and is married to David, a supernumerary minister.
Rev. David Gillman (Circuit Superintendent Minister)
David has served the Methodist Church in Maidstone, Hornsey, New Malden and Battersea. He has also worked as a prison chaplain for over twenty years with both men and women. Brought up in London and having lived for long periods in London he is not fed up with it! The city is constantly changing with the possibility of new experiences every day. Its people and places offer a lens to what it means to live in an interconnected world. David is married to Gillian and has two daughters. They also have a grandson, Freddie, who was born in November 2009. The hills of Orpington will be a challenge to his cycling!
Rev. Jeanette Richardson
Jeanette has just completed her two years of probation as a Methodist minister in the Orpington circuit with pastoral care of Bromley Common and Farnborough Methodist Churches. She was ordained at conference in July 2008. Prior to coming into the ministry she worked as a physiotherapist in the Medway area, her last post was with the Community Brain Injury Team, prior to that she worked at the Wisdom Hospice with a special interest in Motor Neurone Disease.Jeanette has three adult children; Sara, Emma and Gareth. Her interests include bell ringing and she rings fairly regularly at either St Lukes Bromley Common, St John the Baptist Eltham or Rochester Cathedral.
Rev. Paul Hulme
The Reverend Paul Hulme has had a varied Ministry for over 30 years in the Methodist Church. His appointments have included university chaplaincy work for five years at Sussex University. Eleven years were spent in the West Country, at Newquay Wesley Methodist Church, Cornwall, and at The Temple Church, Taunton. For the past twenty years he has served in London, including eight years as Superintendent Minister of Wesley's Chapel, the Mother Church of World Methodism. He is no stranger to religious broadcasting, on television and radio, and to journalism.
Rev. Calvin Samuel
Calvin resides in the circuit as the chaplain to Farringtons School. Before coming to Farringtons in September 2005 Calvin served in the Wandle Valley Circuit with pastoral charge of the Mitcham and St Helier churches. He was born in Barbados and grew up in Antigua before coming to England to study at the Nazarene Theological College in 1993. While working for the University of Manchester he also graduated with an MBA from Manchester Business School. Having worked as Assistant Director in Research and Faculty Administration at London Business School Calvin entered Methodist ministry and was ordained at Ipswich in 2001. Calvin's appointment at Farringtons is part time and he spends the rest of his time as New Testament Tutor at Spurgeon's College in South Norwood. He is married to Ramona and they are parents to Tiana and Fletcher.
Rev. Kevin Taylor
Kevin Taylor was ordained as a Presbyter in the Methodist Church on Sunday 25th of June 2006 after completing two years as a Probationer Minister with the London Mission (Plumstead) Circuit. Although he has been training for ministry for about 8 years, Kevin only retired from the Metropolitan Police Service in April 2005. His final post was in charge of the Emergency Procedures section at New Scotland Yard, which included multi-faith work and the training of volunteer chaplains to attend disaster scenes. He was also a police negotiator for sieges and suicide intervention. Kevin has qualifications in Anatomy and Physiology, Reflexology and Head Massage and his interests include running, fell walking, cycling, swimming and (fair weather!) motorcycling. Kevin has a son, Stuart (25yrs) who is a police officer and a daughter, Heather (22yrs) who is a qualified painter and decorator. Kevin has the pastoral care of the New Eltham church
Rev. Malcolm Wright
Malcolm Wright has been training for various forms of ministry within the United Reformed Church for approximately eight to nine years. As a Nationally Accredited Lay Preacher, an ordained Elder and then studying part time at the South East Institute for Theological Education for the Ministry of Word and Sacraments. He even took a training course called "God's Jesters" and he is happy to admit it and talk about it! Malcolm, at the beginning of 2008, took early retirement after working for 30 plus years in the banking industry in various roles. He is married to Janet and they have two daughters Emma who is a teacher and is married and Kirstie who is studying international development with environmental sciences at university
